Setting up FME 3.0.0.4743 with a DV stream from a Canopus
ADVC500 converter box; the audio stream is at 48kHz 16-bit. Because
48k is not an option in FME, it gets resampled down to 44.1...which
is file, and we used to do the same thing in Windows Media Encoder.
However, the quality in FME is extremely poor (tried mp3, AAC, and
HE-AAC, at bitrates up to the highest option).
I know it's not the device, because I can listen to a clean audio stream with a different application. I can also encode a clean stream in FME using the internal soundcard, but that's a hack...volume control and the tiny, insecure miniplugs don't fit into our broadcast environment. We bought the Canopus to be a pro-level audio/video interface to our encoding systems.
FME ought to be able to resample an audio stream properly...this is extremely disappointing; anyone have advice or been here before? Unfortunately, additional equipment acquisition is likely out of the question...
