I'm looking at moving our Windows Media Streaming over to
Flash with HE-AAC to improve audio quality and reduce bandwidth. I
have the FLME and the demo server installed on a new 2.5GHz Core 2,
2 Gig Ram, 2003 Server, Realtek onboard audio and 1Gbit onboard
ethernet. The demo is running on my 3-computer network (1 Mac 10.4,
1 Win 2000, and the new server) through a Linksys router. I can
access the streaming server from both other machines over the LAN
however I get poor audio with many dropouts and stuttering with
streaming. I get the same stuttering no matter which player I use
to connect to the stream. It even stutters when played back on the
server. The built-in train clips do play flawlessly on all
computers. It appears to be only related to the live streaming.
The LAN is not a problem as I can stream very good quality m3u to the other 2 computers on the LAN from Nicecast running on my Mac. It streams at max speed with no drop outs.
The problem appears to be with the server. How do I troubleshoot this?
