With Flash Media Encoder Beta and Flash Media Server 2.0.4
r79 demo, I am often receiving the following error message while
broadcasting a live stream:
"Invalid stream name
Stream name is either invalid or used by other user. Please try with a different stream name."
The encoder log has a timestamp printed and says:
"Primary - Stream Status: Netstream.Publish.BadName"
I am certain no one else is encoding to the same stream name because I'm the only one using the server and the only encoder instance running at any given point in time is me on one machine. So maybe it is somehow consider an invalid stream name. I am using "stream2" which isn't much besides adding a number 2 to the default name shipped with FME.
Although not likely, I thought there might be a namespace clash while running FME Beta at the same time as Adobe Flash Professional 8 authoring .fla files for live streams on the same machine, so FME and the video hardware were moved to a dedicated machine that does nothing but encode, yet, it still gives the error very often.
FME does not depress the "Stop" button when this error pops up, but makes the stream to any client fail. Direct rtmp connections with Macromedia Flash Player 8 and any compiled *.flv files referencing the rtmp stream all fail to connect. At this point the stream is completely down for any clients to view. To bring the stream back up, I manually depress "Stop" and then hit "Start" a few minutes or so later. If I "Start" too quickly after the error, it reproduces the error immediately before encoding starts.
I have searched the FME Forums, FMS2 FAQ, Adobe's site, and labs.adobe.com for the terms "Invalid stream name" and separately "Netstream.Publish.BadName" without finding an answer to apply.
Is anyone aware of a fix for this problem?
