FMLE frustrations

Hi guys,

We're having quite a few issues with FMLE and Flash video and I'm a bit stuck! We broadcast our FlashBrighton meetings every week (last night over 80 people tuned in) at live.flashbrighton.org, using Influxis TVStation. When we first started using FMLE it was really cool, but now we're getting into the details we're encountering some unsurmountable problems :

1. h264 is pretty unusable. We get glitchy playback, not to mention the fact that the resulting files aren't playable by anything, not even Adobe Media Player, unless you run some obscure command line file which I still don't really understand how (or why) to use.

2. Cropping / editing / merging files : as I mentioned on my last post (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/612365) I need some way of at least cropping the resulting files without a full re-encode. The RichFLV Air app is just so unreliable, in my experience it only ever seems to corrupt anything I put through it :-( And sometimes we end up with multiple files for a presentation, which again I can't merge without a full re-encode.

3. Sound syncing - sometimes the sound just goes out of sync. The only way to fix that is by restarting FMLE. Which means we then have 2 or more files for our presentation. Which we then can't merge together - see 2 :-)

We sometimes use FMLE on PC and sometimes on Mac, last week FMLE completely crashed and lost our video recording!

So I'm really sorry to sound like I'm moaning, but we're just really lacked a few essential tools for working with Flash video, FMLE and FLV files. Is there anything I'm missing? Are there any apps I should look at?

thank you!
